Team Lead (Tech/Service Team) The Team Lead is a line supervisor that has the direct responsibility for the overall production, quality control, and general behavior of their 3-6 Technician lateral support group. They are also responsible for producing billable labor at a level determined by service management.
Responsibilities Produce billable labor on the vehicles brought into the Service Department for service or repair. Set completion times for the jobs assigned to the production group. Dispatch work to all the group members in a fair and equitable manner. Manage the group to achieve high levels of overall group production. Maintain a high standard of quality workmanship for the labor performed by every group member. Work with each group member to ensure their performance at or near their individual production objectives. Maintain a high level of cleanliness, grooming, and uniform appearance for the entire group. Meet with the Service Manager at least once a week to discuss: Each Technician's performance vs. objectives Personnel issues Technician Staff Recruiting, Training and Development The Group Leader is responsible for production and quality control Staff their group in order to optimize customer opportunities and productivity. Ensure their technicians are properly trained and have the breadth of experience necessary to cover customer needs. Develop staff by setting and communicating performance/production expectations, monitoring performance, identifying development needs, coaching and mentoring. Customer Engagement Resolve customer requests, questions and concerns in a professional, friendly, and prompt manner. Develop a production plan each month Break down the store performance expectation for flat rate hours to a daily number Then match the daily SPE by technician and set technician daily objectives Meet with each technician every day and review performance to objective Report to the service manager the results of the interviews and develop an action plan for any issues that need to be addressed. Ensure that all manufacturer policies and procedures are followed. Inspect and maintain the cleanliness, organization and appearance of all service areas in accordance with state and federal OSHA laws to ensure a professional, safe environment for customers and employees. Administrative Functions Hold daily and monthly staff meetings as required covering key information. Receive, communicate and hold staff accountable to policy and procedure requirements and updates. Complete body shop department reporting and month-end procedures on time. Other administrative duties as required.
