Purpose of the Position: This position bundles the local RD activities on low voltage and high voltage wiring harness for all series car lines and the ramp up activities for upcoming carlines at MBUSI.
You will be the interface between MBUSI production- and quality-teams, R&D, procurement, and the wiring harness suppliers.
Purpose of the position is to ensure supplier readiness and parts quality regarding the given project milestones by steering the change management process and being key responsible for problem solving activities on design related harness issues.
Essential Functions: Responsible Development Engineer for all aspects of wiring harness as local RD responsible in the NAFTA hub at MBUSI.Collaborate with all internal departments and component suppliers regarding development related topics.Simultaneous communication with the relevant development departments in Sindelfingen & other foreign plants.Support the change management process (support suppliers, release preparation and maintain/check the related documentation).Examine, measure, inspect, or test suspect/defective parts for conformance to engineering design drawings or blueprint specifications, using precision measuring and testing instruments, devices, and equipment.Analyze specific developmental issues and establish long- & short-term countermeasures. Assist production in implementing aligned countermeasures to ensure production capability.Initiate product changes and approve product deviation requests to improve product quality.Lead cross functional problem-solving activities.Support the Quality Operations departments and After Sales by investigating malfunction and solving problems, also at the dealership or on customer cars.Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources.Work safely 100% of the time.Perform other duties as required.Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position. Education: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Development, design and quality engineering for wiring harness (low voltage and high voltage).
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc: Knowledge of automotive standards for wiring harness in low voltage and high voltage systems.
Deep understanding and design experience of wiring harness in automotive industry.
At least three years of experience in supplier industrialization, change management and parts buy off for automotive wiring harness.
Problem-solving abilities especially in the cross-functional challenge of wiring harness integration in an automotive series production.
Experience in car electronics (hardware & Software, functional testing and analysis) and detailed knowledge of car network topologies and bus systems.
Experience in collaborating and controlling a supplier network.
Demonstration of being highly motivated, independent and possess the ability to work in an international and intercultural team environment.
Preferred Skills: High voltage certification (preferred ES or similar).
Knowledge of Mercedes-Benz documentation, release, and issue tracking systems (SMARAGD, DIALOG, NCM, ZEUS, SAP, PDR, SAP etc.).
Knowledge of electrical car technology and functions preferred on Mercedes-Benz cars.
German language skills and or Spanish language skills.
