The candidate for this role must develop and understand macro fundamentals and supply/demand movements and contribute to the trading strategies of South Latam (Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay) business cash trading strategies and role in the global commodities market.
Support and team working with Grains Traders in generating profits in line with respective regional budgeted volumes and P&L.;
Work in a team with the research/commercial/supply-chain/other internal teams across locations to understand various market dynamics, remain updated on relevant economic and financial markets movements, and develop a network of contacts within the regional Agri-commodities industry.
Main Responsibilities
- Understand and analyze the crush and logistical dynamics in the region, with a special focus on the Argentinean Crush/elevation cluster in Rosario.
- Participate actively in low carbon intensity/sustainable crop projects development in the region. Help to build and structure trading around these new projects.
- Understand and help to develop investment projects in the region related to grain and oilseeds trading, origination and sourcing, logistics, and crush.
- Trading, by contributing to the development of cash trading strategies, along with the senior traders, supporting the crushing of ~4.2 M tons of beans.
- Origination, by interacting with more than 4000 producers, coops, and merchants in the country and monitoring/supporting pricing determination and product flow for our static capacity for Grains & Oilseeds of over 1.3 mm tons currently.
- Research, by understanding the macro fundamentals and by analyzing the supply and demand movements and correlating these to impact on prices and differentials.
- Promote business development of projects of crush and logistics in the region with a special focus on sustainable projects that help the company meet the carbon intensity footprint.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economy, business, agronomy, or engineering.
- Fluent in English and basic (and willing to learn/improve) in Spanish.
- Skilled in managing Excel and Power BI/equivalent systems/dashboards.
- Advanced Excel and Power BI.
- Knowledge of the workings of the future markets.
- Having worked previously with agricultural commodities in any role such as trading, buying, selling, or handling processing or logistics.
- Previous experience in futures trading, project management, or consulting.
- Having lived for study or work in a different country.
- Autonomy and independence. Highly open to changing environments.
