General Summary - We are seeking a dynamic Structural Engineer for our client's Construction Engineering Services. The role will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, and scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe.
As a Structural Engineer, the design-build tasks will include:
Bridge erection & demolitionCofferdam designCritical crane liftsErection sequencing & staged construction analysisHoisting and jackingDeep foundations and dewateringExcavation supportMarine engineeringPile drive analysisSoil anchoring designMicro/mini/rock-socket piles designFalsework designTemporary bridge & trestleDrafting and CADWorking surface designOn-site engineering supportAdditional responsibilities include:
Evaluation of existing structures for construction loads and/or demolition planningStructural analysis to ensure stability during the temporary condition of new bridges, viaducts, buildings, tunnels, and other structures (for example: construction staging, design of temporary falsework systems, and rebar cage hoisting and support)Perform and/or review others calculations and design drawings, according to industry codes, standards, additional client design criteria, and structural theoriesEnsure quality and accuracy of the design deliverablesHelp to identify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planningAssist in Project Management and Estimators (budgets, schedules, quality control, and coordination/communication with clients)On-site inspections, training, and mentoring E.I.T.s, etc.This is a full-time position for an individual working out of our Plantsville office in Connecticut. There is no remote option.
Must have check-in-the-box qualifications: Experience with temporary structures and/or construction engineeringDegree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Masters degree or greater in Structural Engineering is preferred5 - 10 years of relevant engineering experienceProfessional Engineer licensure (PE) or eligibility within the United StatesExperience with engineering design software will be an advantage; this includes AutoCAD, BlueBeam, Civil 3D, Finite Element Analysis SoftwareStrong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environmentAbility to organize and handle multiple project assignmentsAbility to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
