Job Summary: OpenGov is embarking on a transformative journey to elevate and empower our applications' analytics and reporting capabilities. We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the Reporting Platform team. As a seasoned professional with a strong technical background, you will shape the future of data analytics at OpenGov. You will be joining a high-performance team that is building data reporting tools and services integrating commercial-off-the-shelf embedded solutions with OpenGov's platform. These tools will be used by external teams to embed reports and dashboards into their respective OpenGov application suites. Position Overview: In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing in-app data insights and reporting across OpenGov application suites. The tools you develop will not merely meet industry standards; they will redefine the benchmarks for excellence, ushering unparalleled market differentiation for our applications. Join us as we push the boundaries of what's possible, setting a new standard for innovation in the realm of reporting platforms. Requirements and Preferred Experience: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy robust backend solutions for data reporting tools and services. • Design, implement, and optimize scalable and reliable systems to support high-volume data processing and analytics. • Drive innovation in reporting platforms by exploring and implementing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. • Champion developer-owned testing practices, including writing unit tests, integration tests, and automated end-to-end tests to ensure the reliability and stability of backend systems. • Implement sound DevOps practices, including establishing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. • Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and system failures. • Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development. • Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategy for the Reporting team, aligning with broader company goals and initiatives. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, with a focus on backend engineering. • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, or Go. • Experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems for data-intensive applications. • Proficiency in database technologies (e.g., SQL, ETL, Data Warehouse) and data modeling concepts. • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset towards addressing technical challenges. • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. • Experience working in an Agile development environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies. • A passion for innovation and a desire to push the boundaries of what's possible in reporting platforms.
