Job description: Position Summary This position is a key member of the Taca Taca team, supporting the environmental and overall permitting activities, land and rights, and related functions for the project and its operations. The Specialist will align with First Quantum group commitments on Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) topics and policies, as well as complying with all relevant statutory requirements and laws. The candidate must have proven technical knowledge and skills, as well as solid experience, ideally in large-scale mining and familiarity with the industry throughout all its stages. This role also requires regular dealings with various internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must have strong and proven communication skills targeted to the goals of the role.
Responsibilities Permitting and Land: Support the permitting and land acquisition activities associated with the Taca Taca Project and further mine development.Develop permitting analysis, matrices, and permit applications, including the preparation and review of technical documents in line with applicable regulations, business standards, and Company policies.Support and collaborate with the technical areas of the project from an environmental and permitting perspective during field campaigns.Interact with relevant government authorities and other stakeholders involved in the approvals and authorizations of permits and lands.Coordinate and participate in technical meetings associated with permitting and land activities.Provide support to technical audits (internal, government, others).Report progress on the status of permits and/or land acquisition.Prepare internal and external reports associated with permitting and land activities.Prepare permitting schedules and timelines. Environmental: Implement environmental management plans in mining projects.Maintain and monitor weather stations (data download, database management, technical service of the stations).Enter information and update the environmental aspects database (flow meters, water, soil, waste analysis).Support in the preparation of environmental reports.Collaborate with the preparation, updates, and modifications of EIAs (Environmental Impact Studies) required for the construction and subsequent operation of the project.Coordinate workshops for authorities on current, modified, or new EIAs.Continuously review the EIA requirements of the Taca Taca project at each stage of its development.Coordinate field activities derived from daily operations on-site in compliance with EIA commitments and applicable regulations and standards.Control environmental databases required for the project's operability and compliance from an environmental perspective.Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Qualifications Required: Environmental engineering, mining engineering, geology, or related fields.Preferred Master's or postgraduate degree in Environmental Management. Experience & Skills Required: Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with particular experience in mining.Fluency in Spanish and English - written and spoken.Experience in EIA preparation, audits, and Environmental Management and Compliance Systems.Experience working in the field and remote sites.Experience working with highly technical documents (drawings, reports, etc.) associated with mining in its exploration, feasibility, construction, commissioning, and operation phases.Knowledge and familiarity with local legislation and international business standards applicable to mining from an environmental perspective.MS Office.Project planning software and data analytics.Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Driver's license.Ability to work collaboratively with various work teams.
