As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be one of the core pillars of our team working directly with other team members to provide high-quality services to our clients. Your duties will include overseeing the accounting operations of our company, mentoring and reviewing the work of our staff accountants, managing financial transactions, performing tax research, preparing financial statements, communicating directly to the clients virtually and through email, developing and implementing financial policies and procedures, delivering advisory services and contributing to the success of the entire team.
This role is open for candidates based in Latin America and offers a flexible work environment to work remotely. The office is located in Ottawa, Ontario (west end).
Your Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the companyEnsure posting accurate and timely recording of financial transactionsPrepare and review financial statementsReview general ledger transactions, accounts payables and accounts receivable of client's booksAssist with month-end closing procedures for clientsManage client relationships all the way from onboarding to tax filingsAnalyze financial data and provide recommendations for improvements to financial performanceWork closely with other departments and team members to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysisProvide guidance and mentorship to other accounting staff as required, including assigning and reviewing their workWork on ad-hoc projects related to accountingMake recommendations for process improvements and/or internal controls
Your Skills & Experience
Accounting degree5+ years of experience in a senior accounting roleKnowledge of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements is an assetExperience with Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online (or similar systems)Experience with Dext is an assetExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organizationOrganized, deadline-driven, and work well independently and as part of a teamAbility to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independentlyInterest in learning and trying out new software/technologies
