Overall Purpose of The Job
The Senior Category Manager leads the definition and implementation of the commercial / supply chain strategy for the assigned categories. S/he leads the engagement with Members to ensure all requirements are understood and that any strategy or supplier choices are accepted. S/he facilitates and supports the interaction between Members and suppliers. Execution of tenders and supplier negotiations, until business awarding and contracting, following the implementation and supporting the measurement of quality of the services and products performance. Actively manage the supplier category portfolio in terms of cost, quality and delivery, supporting Members with operational escalation and cost optimisation. Ultimately the aim is to improve the utilisation of Marcas contracted suppliers to drive better prices (to benefit Members) and to provide sustainable revenue for Marcas by actively engaging with Members and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks Define and implement the Category Strategy (including baselining, development of plans, improvement of value proposition and plan to rollout to Members). Define, monitor and report category KPIs / performance tracking and reporting, including (but not limited to): savings, pricing trends, utilisation rates and trends and planned activity status. Continuously analyse and benchmark supplier performance (price, quality and delivery performance), working closely with Members in an advisory capacity to drive process improvements and providing escalation support where required. Working with Members, analyse the use of non-contracted suppliers with a view to optimise the Marcas supplier portfolio, conducting spot negotiations with Suppliers as required. Supports Marcas suppliers to better understand the needs/expectations of Members not using Marcas supplies and tailor their value proposition to meet these requirements and increase the chances of success. Manage and execute tendering projects from start to the finish according to the processes in place, following the implementation to ensure successful integration. Monitoring of market developments related to the Category in order to identify and exploit commercial, logistical and technical opportunities, keeping up to date with new technologies and supporting their implementation to drive sustainable improvements. Key Performance Indicators Utilisation – Members' spend with Marcas Suppliers as a proportion of the spend in the category. Savings – ability to drive better commercial terms vs. the market. Revenue – income generated on all spend with Marcas Suppliers. What can I expect in return?

Essential Successful track record in developing and managing supplier agreements to deliver significant cost reductions in organization(s) with multiple stakeholders. Minimum of 5 years supply chain or commercial experience in the marine industry at management / senior level (i.e. with P&L / budget responsibility). Excellent working knowledge of relevant market, including the technical products, specifications and operational processes. Convincing communication, moderation and negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with people both inside and outside the company, able to develop relationship and long-term partnerships. Well organised, self-motivated, good team spirit and flexibility. Ability to create his/her own network within the organization and to manage by consensus. Experienced in working with MS office. Fluent English. Desirable Experience within ship management. Experience of purchasing consortiums and / or third party purchasing and stakeholder management. Degree level educated in relevant subject. Experienced in working across different purchasing systems. Additional Information
Key to success in this role would be an understanding of the compatibility issues, arising with lubricants in the shipping industry.
