Summary: The Senior Accountant will work based in Argentina and support our regional financial accounting goals for the offices in Washington DC, Argentina, and Brazil. This position reports to the Director of Finance and Operations of CEJIL.
Job Duties: Ensures the accuracy and monthly accounting for Balance Sheet items, to guarantee its reliability on a live basis each month.Performs all required regional salary/payroll related Journal entries where CEJIL operates monthly, including their allocation to specific projects.Ensures the processing of the Argentina expenses in time and supports Argentina Accounts Payable function as needed including for the preparation of payroll related accounting schedules and or projections.Maintains the supporting documentation for each expense for the Argentina Office including agreements, receipts, invoices etc. and ensures its organization as required.Supports the process of the organization of Argentina documents needed for the filing of local forms and in collaboration with external accountants and our office needs.Supports the procurement function as needed including the planning of large events, trips, and the procurement of the venues.Supports the planning of specific budgets that need more detail as required and on a live basis.Ensures contractual staff are paid on time per their agreements.Maintains copies of all contracted staff agreements for CEJIL up to date and reminds of any expiring agreements; ensures the liabilities are reflected on the balance sheet.Performs all end-of-the-year Journal Entries as necessary in preparation for the annual audit including the accrual balances, lease schedules and other balance sheet schedules.Assembles documentation for internal, donor and public audits throughout the year.Prepares, maintains and stores cohesive error free information for all CEJIL financial audits including all due diligence related items on a monthly basis and assembles the pertinent documentation during audits.Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational accounting workshops, reviewing professional publications.Collaborates with program, legal and other departments to accomplish goals for accounting.Resolves accounts payable questions externally and internally.Performs other duties as needed and is eager to grow.Skills Required: Advanced AccountingReportingAttention to detail and accuracyOrganization and planningDeadline-orientedConfidentialityTime managementIntermediate proficiency in EnglishSpanish fluencyAbility to proactively ask the right questions to learn the required or new software and accounting processesAbility to adapt in a fast-changing environmentThe ideal candidate would also be ready to learn challenging and new financial responsibilities.Qualifications: Degree in Accounting;At least 7 years of dedicated full-time accounting experience required; preferably for a mid-size organizationQuickBooks experience in previous positions of at least one yearAdvanced knowledge in Excel; intermediate knowledge of other Microsoft Office productsAbility to communicate and write with minimal errors in EnglishThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
