R/GA Japan is seeking a motivated individual who is interested in achieving "best in class" results in a very dynamic environment. This Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Senior Finance Manager in Tokyo along with Managing Director and Producers/Account Leads on the overall accounting management of client work. This includes, but is not limited to, the office revenue and profitability, overseeing billing of fees and out of pocket expenses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Process forms to set up new vendors. Manage vendor and internal client inquiries regarding invoices. Work with shared service center to process invoices. Code vendor invoices. Analyze and prepare monthly payable accruals associated with expenses. Assist with account analysis and preparation of journal entry activity. Verify, allocate, post and reconcile general ledger accounts. Analyze financial information and summarize financial status. Review revenue entries and assist with implementation of the new revenue standard. Analyze, complete and communicate detailed account variance analysis. Provide technical support and advice to the business. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures. Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance. Support month-end and year-end close process. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Assist in the annual financial audit including preparing client assistance requests and answering auditor questions. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles. CHARACTERISTICS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS Language fluency in Japanese (native level) and English (professional business level). Experience with Vantage/SAP, or knowledge of integrated financial systems. Incredibly organized and pays extra attention to details. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and loves a good challenge. Enjoys working with people across multiple departments and countries, including Producers and Account Leads. Master of Microsoft Excel. 5+ years' related experience, preferably in the advertising industry. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance. 2nd or higher grade Nissho Boki.
