Job Description - Section Lead ADAS Active Safety (MER0003C9C) Group: Mercedes-Benz Group AG
Description Objective of job (abbreviated) Vehicle safety is the core DNA of Mercedes-Benz. The active safety domain in driver assistance systems is one of the important components to reach overall vehicle safety. As the Section Lead, the key responsibilities are:
Taking the lead role in defining the overall active safety functional requirements, including features and KPIs, tracking and ensuring the function development reaches targets with internal and external stakeholders in local and global AD projects. Establishing and improving the development process.Managing the section members' daily work, tracking development progress, ensuring deliverables are of high quality, and guiding the team in addressing critical topics and issues, working closely with team members to devise effective solutions.Assisting the team leader in section development, including defining section members' competence development plans, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance evaluations.Leading product definition and requirements of overall active safety functional requirements, including features and KPIsProduct definition and function requirements with target KPIs.Content alignment with local and global AD projects.Leading implementation and driving verification planningMilestone and resource planning for implementation.System optimization, scalability, and extendibility defining and designing.Driving the issue-solving process. Tracking and analyzing top issues.Development process improvement.Task ManagementMonitoring status and progress of work and making day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the Supervisor as needed.Estimating and reporting on expected time of work completion and maintaining work records.Distributing and balancing workload among employees and assuring timely accomplishment and quality of work.People Supervision & Team DevelopmentAssisting Supervisor with daily people supervision tasks including but not limited to recruitment, attendance & leave management and goal agreement, appraisal, and feedback process.Providing necessary performance coaching and feedback to team members.Reporting to Supervisor on performance, progression, and training needs of team members and on disciplinary issues.Assisting Supervisor on Section Team employee survey follow-ups and team building topics.Training and Coaching to Team MembersInstructing team members in tasks and job techniques and making available written instructions and reference materials.Giving on-the-job training to new team members.Improving team know-how, answering questions of team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc.Qualifications Education Master's degree or above, major in automotive engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or relevant majors.Experience More than 5 years of experience in OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers with successful market launch of at least 1-2 Active Safety related functions.At least 2-3 years of team management experience.Specific Knowledge Proficient in automotive electronics industry systems, processes, standards, and toolchains; have an in-depth understanding and insights into the development trends of active safety domain products and technologies.Proficient knowledge in Active Safety end-to-end development, including process, KPI definition, and verification.Good knowledge of active safety related GB regulations, as well as rating protocols, e.g., C-NCAP and C-IASI.Good understanding of overall vehicle E/E architecture.Good understanding of active safety functional algorithms.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, facilitating seamless interaction with cross-functional teams and with various hierarchy levels, stakeholders, and customers in technically comprehensive terms.Has teamwork spirit, willing to share, able to self-motivate, and influences and leads the team with a positive, hardworking, and optimistic attitude, strong willingness to go the extra mile to achieve committed goals.Proficient in written and spoken English (negotiation level), German is a plus.
