The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker, or other health care professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Follows through with IEP objectives including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses, one on one or as a general classroom aideFacilitates teacher-directed learning activities including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistanceAssists students when included in general education classesCommunicates pertinent information to teachersAccompanies students during recess and lunch periods, along with community experiencesStrictly adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activitiesAssists with activities of prescribed programs including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLPAssists students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygieneMay be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals (i.e., BCBA, Psychologist, etc.)Assists teacher with clerical duties including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoringAssists with transfers and ambulationAppropriately reports changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEPComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state, and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:
