How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The GL Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the General Accounting (GL) team.
The General Ledger team under their responsibility encompasses a team of 7 to 14 people.
The General Ledger Supervisor has the responsibility to ensure that strong processes are in place to enable timely and accurate handling of the following key areas:
Monthly accounting and reporting including account analysis and account reconciliations;Internal reporting to Corporate and the Business Units (BUs).The General Ledger Supervisor must work effectively with management and associates across the Airgas organization, including finance and accounting teams within the Company's BUs, BSCs, and Corporate.
The General Ledger Supervisor will closely interact with various teams on Company-wide process improvement initiatives, helping to develop solutions, leading cross-functional process teams with an overall focus on improving efficiency and effectiveness, internal controls and customer service.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Responsible for meeting deliverables for all General Ledger team responsibilities.
Must have working knowledge of team processes, related controls and staff assignments.Work with the team in managing the daily operations (run work and project work).
Key responsibilities include:Complex analysis, reports, monthly reconciliations and journal entries related to intercompany transactions and reconciliations, consolidated sales and use tax reconciliations, personal property tax adjustments and reconciliations, allocation and accrual journal entries, etc.
;Verification and posting of payroll interfaces;Completion of quarterly inventory reserve calculation;Internal and external audit requirements;Serving as subject matter expert for related policies and procedures, including configuration and operation of SAP general ledger system.Promote a business process excellence culture through working effectively with process/functional leaders to identify and develop business process improvement opportunities on an ongoing basis.Establish process metrics and measures.Participate and support the Airgas finance strategic plan.Core focus on staff development through goal-setting, performance evaluations, feedback, and ongoing performance coaching to ensure activities are performed within department and Company policy.Focal Point with Divisional Controllers for accounting matters.Are you a MATCH?Required Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business related field.
CPA or MBA preferred but not required.Knowledge and skills: More than 7 years of progressive professional experience in accounting and business process improvement, including demonstrated management experience.
Three-plus years of accounting/finance experience and two-plus years of business leadership and/or supervisory experience.High Level of English proficiency.
Being able to have a daily interaction with English native speakers.Solid leadership skills with excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work successfully in a team atmosphere and adjust communication requirements based on specific situations.Strong ability to partner across a complex, decentralized organization and influence outcomes at all levels.Systematic problem solver focused on implementing solutions to solve root cause problems.Comfortable with out-of-the-box thinking and challenging status quo.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
