How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant(s) will manage the SAP Investment Management/Project Systems (IM/PS) functionality for the Division.
The role will involve working with Division Company finance and operations personnel to assist in procuring capital assets, assign blanket asset budgets for procurement for certain classes of assets (e.g., computers, cylinders), assist with the control of the internal order process for tracking capital investments, fund capital projects and create internal order numbers and assist in determining when projects can be capitalized.
The Sr.
Fixed Asset Accountant will also assist with providing monthly and quarterly reporting of capital project spend comparing actual-to-budget as well as other information.
This role will work closely with other members of the Division Accounting department, Division FP&A, Central Accounting and other BSC Teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure compliance with the Company's financial policies/procedures.
Ensure fixed asset transactions are processed/prepared timely and accurately (retirements, transfers, cost adjustments).
Maintain internal accounting controls that are consistent with Company requirements.
Monitor & manage the overall CAPEX workflow process to ensure CARs are approved and processed timely.
First pass review of all CAR's submitted to the site, includes but not limited to:
Verify all required data is included, e.g.
vendor quotes, etc.
OPEX vs. CAPEX recommendation (including corresponding policy).
Review & preparation of any associated asset retirements.
Provide and support reporting to the Management Team related to capital project budgets, actual spend and committed amounts.
Ensure timely capitalization of completed projects & ensure the asset is depreciated properly.
Work closely with other Division Fixed Asset Management Accountant(s) on gathering data related to shared capital expenditures and timely asset capitalization and transfer for assets.
Month-end procedures and reporting requirements related to fixed assets and capitalized costs, including the generation of reports and the preparation and posting of journal entries.
CIP account analysis, research and preparation of account reconciliations.
Monthly financial statement explanations and variance analysis related to fixed asset accounts.
Work closely with Production/Product Management to understand Plant/Customer statuses and prepare various asset impairment analysis upon trigger events.
Participate in policy revisions, as well as, interpreting policy and drafting memo's to augment business specific needs.
Preparation of reports and other information related to internal requests from the Division/branches as well as Corporate.
Handle acquisition accounting for fixed assets.
Understand aspects of inter-company accounting transactions among Airgas Corporate and subsidiary regional companies.
Routine interaction with external and internal auditors.
Participate in / contribute to Fixed Asset Policy and Procedure revisions.
Understand accounting process for purchase to pay and financial reporting cycles.
Prepare quarterly Cylinder Reconciliation templates for assigned Airgas Regions.
Provide reports and fulfill information request from external and internal auditors.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Key Skills / Competencies: Team Work, Problem Solving, Oral and Written Communication, Excel, Accounting theory and practice; ability to learn and use software package.
Minimum Qualifications: BS Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Strong knowledge of Google Suite tools & Microsoft Excel.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3+ years accounting experience preferred.
Familiarity with SAP preferred.
Fixed Asset experience preferred.
High level of English Proficiency.
Able to interact constantly with English native speakers.
