POSITION SUMMARY: The Automation Robotics Engineer will provide technical support for the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems.
This individual primary responsibilities include: the technical engineering of robotic software during the design, and build phase of a project; the generation of robotic software for the designed system using customer standards and known good practices; and integration and support of the equipment during runoff and after installation at the customer facility. They share the responsibility with management that all projects meet customer specifications and exceed end-user expectations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Shared responsibility with project management for performance to budget and timing during all phases of the project. Understand and strictly follow the standards and specifications for the robotic simulation and/or design of robotic software for the end user. Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings, pneumatic drawings, and mechanical sequences of operations and use them to write software. Understand safety concepts and safety requirements to ensure proper implementation during the robotic simulation and/or software generation. Write Robotic Software Programs for different types of equipment/machinery both from scratch and using customer software standards and templates. Responsible for the completeness of software design prior to power on, ensuring reduced debug project phases. Support manufacturing and service at the debug and installation startup phase. Utilize critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, and formulate effective solutions to issues in a timely fashion. Train/aid the end-user on the equipment operation as well as hardware and software architecture Aid the customer and improve customer satisfaction through routine and regular communication. Act as project manager on smaller projects and report to management on progress, timing, and critical issues. Travel for extended periods to end-user facilities to startup, debug or support machinery. Ensure the accuracy of all documentation by recording all field changes and delivering mark-ups to engineering so they are included in the final documentation provided to the customer. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or five (5) or more years of experience in the field of robotic automation for the automotive industry strongly preferred. Strong and recent background in two of the following robots: Fanuc (iR Vision), ABB, or Kuka. Able to do Advanced Programming in the two robots they have the most knowledge. Very proficient with Robotic Path Teaching. Material Handling Applications a plus Experience setting up various robot communication protocols (i.e.
DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethernet IP). Able to read Electrical and Pneumatic Prints. Strong Electrical troubleshooting skills. Robotic simulation and vision guidance experience preferred.
