How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The Accounting Team Lead reports directly to the GL Manager and plays a key role in supporting the Accounting Manager in critical and sensitive operations, becoming the main focal point for any GL activity under the BSC scope. The Accounting Team Lead will guide the team to accomplish tasks timely and efficiently, providing valuable insights and hands-on experience in various aspects of accounting.
Responsible for overseeing the monthly close process, ensuring the team adheres to close deadlines and works to improve the efficiency of monthly close processes. Responsible for the bank accounts reconciliation process. Planning, coordination, and timely completion of external and internal audit requests. Manage staff to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial results are produced. Oversee the delivery of monthly required schedules and reports. Review account reconciliations prepared by the team to ensure the accuracy of general ledger balances. Establish goals and expectations for staff members and assist in their job skill development. Ensure accounting is done in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and BlueBook policies in collaboration with corporate functions and management. Ensure reconciliations and journal entries comply with company policies. Collaborate with Hub and Cluster leaders in monitoring and facilitating month-end close activities. Work with external actuaries to facilitate accounting and monitor results for pension accounting, as applicable. Develop and/or review ad hoc schedules for planning and decision-making, and assist with special projects as necessary. Ensure key performance indicators are completed timely and used for strategic decision-making. Review documented business processes and problems, working with the team to develop solutions to enhance efficiency. Assist staff in resolving complex or out-of-policy operational problems. Hiring, training, and coaching employees. Ensure Standing Operating Procedures and Desktop Procedures are prepared and updated at least twice a year. Prepare and update a capacity file to list activities performed and the time consumed by each. Ensure all team members' capacity files are prepared, reviewed, and used to manage the team efficiently. Prepare and update a detailed mapping process file and share it with the Accounting Manager. Are you a MATCH? Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Experience/Certifications: 6+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years of supervisory experience; Big 4 or national public accounting experience preferred; Oracle experience highly desirable; Chartered accountant. Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to multitask and prioritize; supervisory skills for motivating and evaluating employees. Language Requirements: English: Advanced proficiency required [B2/C1]; Spanish: mandatory. Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); ability to work in a team-oriented, solution-focused environment; recognized technical skills in accounting; ability to manage a team with significant expertise; solid understanding of financial analysis; advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets; initiative; strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills; digital mindset for systems automation; continuous improvement mindset; results-oriented self-starter; overtime required during month-end close.
