Job Overview: You will coordinate the day-to-day activities of a team of production workers to ensure that manufacturing operations run according to established production specifications and schedules, while supporting team members at Mercedes-Benz Vans building state-of-the-art vans for the American automotive market. You will oversee in-process quality inspections of vans, and help communicate effectively with production personnel to create awareness of quality issues that leads to effective resolution.
Responsibilities: Responsible for overseeing in-process quality inspections of vansReading and comprehending checklist inspection points and locating the targeted area for inspectionUsing instruments such as magnifiers, electronic instruments, micrometers, snap gauges, and special fixtures and verifies calibration against standardsIdentifying, evaluating and determining the severity of a defect based on the Van Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scaleConducting needed inspections in the established takt timeInputting defects into QSYS and on FBKProperly clearing defects in QSYS and on the FBKInspecting FBKs for conformance to stamping requirementsIdentifying the correct process owner for a defect and communicating with themVerifying correction of defects if/when corrected in-stationDetermining next process step for vehicles with defects (light tunnel/EOL only)Conduct and participate in regularly scheduled meetingsRegular co-working in the working stationsReliever/supporter in the case of minimal qualificationsAct as a short term replacement for (un)scheduled temporary absence according to regulationSupport in the case of vans with special equipmentFunction as utility person and replacementSupport process of solving team internal cooperation problemsEnsure cyclic check of instrumentsAct as first contact person for other teamsSupport with/elimination of Q-AlarmSupport and foster integration of employeesExecution of Q-Check (at Product)Initiate and foster continuous improvement of the work environment and ergonomicsAct as the technical lead of the teamCommunicate, improve and monitor standardsOrganize and execute shift organizationEstablish and maintain adherence to rotation planGuarantee and execute Q-checkMaintain board with indicators/process folderResponsible for adhering to team targetsInitiate and regulate problem solving processDevelop and update qualification matrixOther duties as assignedShift: This position is being offered on 3rd shift.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.
More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
