Description As Quality Project Engineer, you will be the central contact person regarding quality maturity topics for related cross-functional departments such as RD, Platform Management, Quality Management, and Production.
You will be responsible for monitoring the project quality status for purchased parts based on Mercedes-Benz quality standards and steering the project to ensure that necessary standard methods in supplier quality management are effectively conducted. You will report the supplier quality status to top management in China and Germany. Main tasks include:
Monitor parts quality maturity status according to project milestones.Creation and timely submission of maturity reports.Present department targets and status in management meetings.Risk management of production projects, identifying and escalating quality maturity risks.Communicate project status with Daimler Headquarters and global plants.Close collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineers, Project Managers, and Project Leaders in Quality.1. Methods and Processes Coordinate relevant quality processes to achieve quality targets in supplier and purchased parts management. Support and implement standard methods and processes in supplier management. Coach, guide, and train peers in standard methods and processes regarding purchased parts and supplier management.
2. Reporting Prepare decision papers and regular reports to show the maturity status of purchased parts on a project level.
3. Project Management Represent the department, report purchased parts status, and escalate critical topics in relevant committees.
4. Process Management Coordinate and control sampling and parts release activities planned by quality engineers. Plan, execute, and control necessary measures to ensure and increase parts maturity (e.g., during null series and production tryouts). Ensure documentation and product/process release according to project timelines.
Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration; Master's Degree is a plus.
• Project management certification is preferred.
Experience: • Minimum of 2 years of automotive industry (or comparable) experience; quality and manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with quality standards and methods (i.e., ISO 9001, TS 16949, VDA 6.3, PPAP, etc.).
Specific Knowledge: • Excellent written and spoken command of English; German is a plus.
• Capabilities in problem solving and interdisciplinary cooperation.
• Analytical and conceptual thinking and attitude.
• Self-confident personality with presentation skills.
