Job Overview:Manages and supports the new engine project. Develops project objectives for this complex project by applying best practices. Monitors project target parameters such as budget, scope, and timeline. Works with a global team network to ensure the fulfillment of the highly demanding project requirements.
Responsibilities:Manage and support engineering projects from feasibility studies via preparation project tendering till final acceptance, design, and construction activities.Design, communicate, and implement a project plan.Monitor project progress and performance against project plan.Analyze drawings and communicate discrepancies to vendors for corrections.Prepare engineering designs and work specifications.Conduct project meetings and prepare status reports. Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends.Resolve operational problems and minimize delays using the most appropriate option or improve existing approaches.Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.Support setup of contacts with internal/external Daimler partners and worldwide external business partners.Solve national and international problems using root cause analysis.May support manufacturing engineering assignments as needed.Receive input from project teams and working groups. Report to the project teams and project committees.May help coordinate the work of junior members of the team.Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related area. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.Technical understanding.High skill and knowledge of lean production systems.Good coordination, communication skills, and presentation skills.Very confident with computer programs (e.g. Windows, Office).We are all in for change. Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.
More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
