Description
Monitors the factory's performance, determines manpower needs and strengthens and develops the organization's production & planning structure. Develops, implements, and improves manufacturing production processes and methods.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability. Drives the implementation of continuous improvement processes for efficiency to create a Lean Manufacturing environment. Investigates problems, analyzes root causes, and derives resolutions using the 8D Problem Solving Process to ensure sustainable quality products. Supports operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished products and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Provides input for budget preparation and monitors expenses and profitability. Writes specification books; requests and evaluates supplier quotations. Supports the design, documentation, and implementation of medium-scale manufacturing processes. Checks feasibility of product changes. Performs a variety of moderately complex tasks relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Evaluates current production activities and makes recommendations for improvements. Periodically ensures that highly technical equipment meets required specifications and high-quality standards. Proposes cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards. Contributes to product and process quality design testing methods. Develops planning standards, methods, and procedures. Stays current with product specifications, engineering technology, and production processes. Assists management in manpower distribution to achieve efficiency goals. Provides guidance to team members to accomplish production goals. Heavily involved in medium-scale projects from beginning to end. Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings. Will perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree required. 3-5 years of relevant experience required, strongly preferring automotive, such as Body in White, Paint, and Assembly. *6 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods/procedures and process technology. Ability to present technical information is a plus. Proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills. Able to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions. Knowledge of joining technologies such as Mig/Mag, spot, and laser welding, and gluing is a plus. Use of value stream mapping to identify opportunities for waste reduction is a plus.
