The NM State Land Office has a Non-Emergency Telework Policy, which allows eligible employees to telework up to twenty-four (24) hours a week consistent with the agency's business needs.

Why does the job exist?
The core mission of the New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) is to responsibly generate revenue through a wide array of leasing activities on state trust lands on behalf of public schools, universities, and hospitals.
This position is housed in the Oil, Gas & Minerals Division and is focused on ensuring highly detailed contractual processes and commitments are followed by industry, researches miscellaneous instruments by industry documenting chain of title and communicates with industry any deficiencies, reviews leases associated with units in order to correctly document in lease files and create segregated leases, and tracks, for compliance purposes, extensions granted under statutory leases.
The position also assists with preparing tracts for the monthly oil and gas lease sale (including reviewing the terminated tracts for compliance-related issues), develops public-facing materials that readily explain new, updated Division processes, and will work closely with the agency's Legal Division on compliance-related issues.
How does it get done?
The position will review miscellaneous documents; track compliance obligations under statutory lease obligations for parties wishing to invoke provisions under the lease allowing for well reworks, drilling past the primary term of a lease, and/or special extensions such as avoiding venting or flaring or avoiding a frac hit; work with units manager to create segregated leases for all new units and audit existing units to determine and create segregated leases for existing units; prepares monthly oil and gas lease sale documents and tracts and reviews terminated tracts for compliance-related termination reasons and confirms lease eligibility; develops public-facing materials.
Who are the customers?
Internal: Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division; Administrative Services; Commercial Division; Legal Division; Surface Resources Division; and executive State Land Office management officials (Office of the Commissioner).
External: New Mexico public schools, universities, and hospitals; individuals; general public; lessees (agricultural, oil and gas companies, commercial, rights-of-ways); natural resource authorization users; program enrollees; hunters; other stakeholders; government entities (state, federal, city, county, tribal).

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers, and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling, and crawling.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
