On behalf of our client SHELL, within the Canada and Argentina Shales project organization, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead who is responsible for supporting the various concurrent green field and brownfield project activities across the Mechanical & Quality disciplines. This role will lead MMI activities that are primarily focused on material selection, corrosion, pressure piping, static equipment such as tanks & vessels, and pipelines. Operations support over these assets will be a component of the role.
Accountabilities: The MMI Engineering Lead's prime focus will be to provide safe, pragmatic technical guidance and assurance to projects and provide needed operations support. Actively supporting multi-discipline scope deliveries within the Project delivery team, front end project development. This includes technical and lean scoping leadership as well as TA2 assurance to Engineering Contractor organization to ensure engineering is fit-for-purpose, compliant to Shell standards and Shales portfolio requirement specification (PRS) requirements. Besides maintaining the MMI aspects to the PRS (including design philosophies), the MMI Engineer is also expected to get involved in a range of activities i.e. factory inspections, field inspections, design reviews, MOCs, equipment verification in contractor shops. Based on scope, he/she also gets involved in plant changes, maintenance advice, and on-demand incident investigation which provides important lessons learned to optimize the P&T delivery scopes. He/she will closely work together with e.g. Project managers, project & facility engineers, process engineers, and other discipline engineers to ensure all aspects of scope are covered.
Requirements: Minimum 10+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with at least 5 years in project phases (FEED, Detailed Engineering, Execution), mostly in Upstream business.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent required. Professional Engineering registration (e.g., APEGA, Texas P.E.) preferred.Advanced level of English.Knowledge of HSE regulations, ASME, CSA, national & international standards, and quality processes.Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills to manage teams, stakeholders, and service providers.Self-starter with problem-solving abilities and a "can-do" attitude, capable of using a risk-based approach.Effective stakeholder management and ability to deliver innovative solutions.Good communication, presentation, and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.Experience managing contractors in a cost-reimbursable contracting environment, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets.Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain strong work relationships.Able to deliver within scope, time, and budget, while managing changing priorities.Experience with LEAN approach and a focus on cost vs benefit in design.Ability to think "out of the box" and focus on continuous technical improvement.Knowledge/Skill level competence on Rotating Equipment Engineering will be an added advantage.Experience with CAPEX cost estimating processes preferred.Location: Capital Federal or Neuquén (Hybrid modality. Travel to work sites based on project requirements).
