As a Research & Development office abroad, we support all activities of Mercedes-Benz Group AG in the field of eMobility for the Japanese market.
Job Description The Team Lead Infotainment Development is responsible for the market specific improvement of existing MBUX systems as well as for the development of market specific features for new infotainment systems. The focus will be on all generation of Navigation systems and the UI experience, specifically in regards of speech dialog system (SDS) and market specific driver's distractions regulations.
Together with his team, the Team Lead Infotainment Development is the main counterpart to the global development teams in Germany, India, and Korea. He is managing the local team to ensure efficient communication, clear definition of responsibilities, and technical solutions satisfying the local customers' expectations.
Leading a team of approx. 10 developers in close cooperation with the global function owners in headquarters Defining roles and responsibilities Ensuring a suitable framework for the team including necessary communication channels and the availability of required tools. Defining goal agreements and ensuring the development of the employees (qualification, performance evaluation, etc.) Defining a team strategy and vision/mission for the team Ensuring purpose-driven reporting to the supervisor and the stakeholders Supporting the RDJ strategy to act as ONE team for Japan. Development and testing of market specific applications, features, and functions according to defined project level agreements with stakeholders in headquarters Defining market specific requirements, weighting the priority of market specific features and ensuring the implementation of the relevant features together with the local suppliers. Ensuring the development of all relevant functions around the navigation system including onboard and online route calculation, market specific guidance adopted to the customer expectations in Japan, reliable positioning, integration of traffic information from multiple sources, etc. All market specific features need to be aligned with the customer function owners supporting the global strategy of navigation development. Alignment of relevant requirements in regards of drivers' distraction defined by local authorities and laws. Ensuring the correct implementation. Adoption and implementation on market specific Japanese voice commands and algorithms to support a seamless voice control system based on Natural Language Understanding for local customers. Alignment and adoption of market specific Mercedes-me-connect Services in close cooperation with the global service development team. Coordination of the testing and validation of all relevant functions with focus on module testing and testing of engineering builds. Performing of defect management and status reporting based on defect statistics and related project dashboards. Contracting and coordination of external engineering supplier based on a "service contract" and acting as representative between both companies. Monitoring and Benchmarking Ensuring the continuous monitoring of customer feedback together with the Mercedes-Benz Japan product management. Communicating market requirements timely to the global navigation team and supporting the global demand process for relevant local features. Ensuring monitoring of the latest market trends based on research and benchmarking activities including detailed reporting. Supporting customer/user studies driven by the stakeholders or even initiates local user studies in alignment with RDJ stakeholders. *As a general rule, this is a local contract position

Qualifications Education/Languages
Master's degree in engineering focusing on digitization and software development, ideally with background on navigation applications Proficient language skills in English as a must Solid Japanese language skills as a plus German language skills as a plus Technical
Good understanding of the architecture of onboard and cloud-based digital applications Solid know-how in project management achieving defined targets according to given project plans Soft Skills / Personality
Outstanding communication and presentation skills Strong negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders Strong customer orientation Experiences
5+ years of experience in the automotive industry at an OEM or supplier, preferred in the R&D environment 3+ years of experience in leading and developing a diverse team with multi-cultural background
