Job Summary The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for supporting his/her team in the social-emotional growth and development of toddler and preschool-aged children. The primary function of Lead Teachers is to work with parents, administrators, and other teachers to improve children's experience and meet teaching objectives. Additionally, Lead Teachers work with the team to plan, evaluate, and improve the physical environment of the classroom to create opportunities that meet the changing needs of the developing child. A "final decision" about the classroom will be discussed among the team but often decided by the Lead Teacher. The Lead Teacher is responsible for classroom schedules regarding breaks, preps, and other day-to-day scheduling needs. Successful lead teachers are friendly and passionate about child development and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities Able to problem solve and make "final decisions" when needed for the needs of the overall classroom. Portfolio/primary assignments. Training for new classroom teachers/assistants. Classroom schedules. Breaks, preps, lunches, and last minute daily adjustments. Parent Teacher Conferences (accountable that everyone is completing theirs on schedule, sending recap emails, keeping up on portfolios, etc.). Coordinates transition conferences. Curriculum/lesson plan/classroom rotations. Team Meeting: Create agenda, assure meeting notes are being sent after. Monthly meeting with Lead Teachers & Director. New student set-up tasks. Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable) Supervisor of the Day (if Director and Site Supervisor are away). Position Requirements Must hold a college degree (AA, AS or BA) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. 2 years of experience at Trust Children's Center or 5 years of experience in a lead role at a licensed early care and education facility. Be able to understand and uphold Trust Core Values. Must meet State of California Community Care Licensing Director Qualifications (one of the following): Site Supervisor Permit. BA in Child Development and one year of experience. AA in Child Development and two years of experience. Coursework only and four years of experience. Physical Requirements Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone, or virtually. Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, or assemble/manufacture intricate items. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Physical agility to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height. Any items that weigh more than 50 pounds will require two or more people or a lifting device to move. Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Pay/Salary Information Pay scale for this position: $23.74 to $27.00 hourly.
