INDUSTRY COUNCIL LEAD West Michigan Tech Talent (PROJECT SUPERVISOR) Applications with resumes and cover letters will be accepted through Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the position of Industry Council Lead (Project Supervisor). This position will entail the supervision of various projects working with employers in the information technology industry. This full-time position is in compensation Pay Range E that pays from $45,809 to $64,157 annually, plus fringe benefits. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

West Michigan Works! mission is to lead workforce development strategy and resource alignment in West Michigan by understanding the talent needs of employers and employment needs of job seekers and connecting them to solutions.
JOB SUMMARY: The Industry Council Lead serves as the primary contact for specific industry councils that we support at West Michigan Works!. There will be a specific lead for each industry, including health care, construction, hospitality, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and agribusiness. The primary responsibilities of this position include leadership team facilitation, workgroup coordination, communication and engagement with employers and staff, coordination of operations, network building, and project management. Responsibilities are carried out according to established procedures with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Organize and facilitate talent council and board for industry sector, including creating notes, budgets, and agendas.Manage project committees and establish agreements around strategy and tactics for sector's projects.Coordinate workgroups, ensuring projects are managed and completed. Provide project management supervision and compile information for reports.Communicate information regarding industry talent and workforce development information and news to sector membership.Create and implement communication and engagement strategies for organization including newsletters, social media, general engagement letters and press releases in coordination with the marketing department.Maintain industry sector website, membership and distribution lists; fundraising, membership fees and registration; review of budget and maintenance of ledger; recruitment for project teams, board and events.Build networks by attending networking events and participating in panels about talent strategies; build and maintain relationships with key leaders in the network including executives and c-level staff.Coordinate industry sector activities for annual MiCareerQuest event, including coordination with employer champions, fundraising activities, recruitment of exhibitors, and planning meetings.Provide core Business Solutions services for industry sector, including recruitment assistance and training grants.Document activities in Salesforce.Prepare routine and special reports as needed.Attend professional development activities, trainings, and seminars.Actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.Perform other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Social Services, Public Administration, or related field.Three to six years of leadership experience in business or workforce administration or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications.Written skills necessary to prepare routine and special reports and required documentation.Ability to apply analytical skills in identifying operational problems and potential solutions.Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in both oral and written form with prior experience in public speaking.Communication and organizational skills that contribute to a quality work environment and the ability to work as a team.Planning and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, state and local agencies, and the general public.Knowledge of Human Resource related functions and the ability to assist employers to solve their business needs.Mental ability to handle pressures related to meeting deadlines and to frequently work on projects requiring concentration.Knowledge of relevant human service programs and policies, resources and procedures.Physical ability to sit in one position for extended periods of time.WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.Local or statewide travel may occasionally be required.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a person assigned to this job.
