SUMMARY The Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 performs skilled and semi-skilled manual and equipment-operation work in the landscaping and grounds maintenance around POA facilities. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent (will also act as a lead person in their absence).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will perform the operation of power and hand tools and all vehicular apparatus used in landscape maintenance. Work is reviewed through inspection for conformance with instructions and established standards.
EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only) Performs daily care to landscaping and grounds to ensure they are well kept, manicured and attractive.Performs disease and pest control applications as required.Performs seeding and fertilizing operations to lawns as required.Performs grass mowing priorities and schedules.Performs the planting and pruning of trees, shrubs and flowers.Operates various types of equipment including mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, edgers, aerators, leaf vacuums, hedge trimmers, sprayers, chainsaws, etc.Operates heavy equipment for various functions, i.e., truck, trencher, backhoe, front end loader, brush hog.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Assigned special projects may require supervision of other workers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Ability to obtain and/or maintain a valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit.The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
