Job title: Early Years Educator / Lead Educator
Reporting to: Director of Service and/or Designated Person in Charge
39 Hours per week 9am to 5pm – Monday to Friday.
Salary: €14.00 – €15.50 Depending on qualifications and experience.
Flexibility required for training and meetings.
Minimum Requirements
• FETAC LEVEL 6 or above in Childcare and / or Education
• Experience working in a preschool setting or teaching or education would be advantageous.
• Strong English communication skills
Main Job Purpose:
• To work as an Early Years Educator / Lead Educator providing high quality and best practice standards in relation to all aspects of childcare and early learning at Mercy Family Centre.
• To work in close co-operation with the Director of Services and/or Designated Person in Charge.
• To work within our fluid model of family and relationship, addressing development and changes to help parents and children adapt. Ensuring there is reflection and evolution in the emerging development of the child and connect through the relationship between the Child and Staff, Staff and Parent, Child and Parent and overall environment.
Administration:
• To maintain registration files and administration files as required in our Operation Manual.
• To maintain up to date necessary record in compliance with the most recent Childcare Pre-School Services Regulations, roll book, accident report book, medical information/details on child, diet and health, day to day notices and standards, reporting sheets such as sleep, nappy change, etc.
Health & Safety
• To be responsible for the health, safety and well-being of the children.
• To participate in cleaning and Hygiene duties after sessions and through sessions.
• To bring to the attention of the Director of Service and/or Designated Person in Charge any possible hazards or risks.
Children
• To assist with the design and implementation of a stimulating programme underpinned by a holistic approach, enhancing the child's natural growth and development.
• To ensure the protection of children in accordance with Children First: National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children 1999 update 2006.
• To assist with child developmental observations and recorded appropriately in partnership with the Director of Service and/or Designated Person in Charge and to participate in our supervision model of same.
• To work with children with additional needs in an access and inclusion model (AIM).
• To work with staff to provide a team approach to delivery of childcare and education of the highest standard with reference to Aistear and Siolta and the requirements of the National Childcare scheme and Department of children government programmes.
Parents
• To support the parents and families building good relationships in partnership with the care of their children.
Training and Meetings
• To attend and participate in any meeting or training as required outside of working hours and as required including Continued Professional Development and Quality Standards and guidelines for grants etc.
• Engage in professional reflection analysing theory, policy and practice on a weekly basis as part of our supervision module.
Flexibility
• To be flexible in regard to working in the different children's rooms as required on request by the Director of Service and/or Designated Person in Charge.
Communication
• Communicate with all relevant personnel, frequently in a straightforward, accurate and professional manner.
Confidentiality
• The person appointed to this job shall practice within the strict code of conduct guidelines and under GDPR guidelines.
Other Duties
• To be knowledgeable of all policies and procedures and to follow them accordingly.
• To take on other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Director of the Service and/or Designated Person in Charge from time to time.
