.As a DFM Project Engineer – 3D Printing, you're primarily responsible for working with customers across an array of industries including general machine building, commercial, automotive, industrial, and medical devices.
It is critical that you have the ability to evaluate the manufacturability of customer designs and recommend solutions utilizing Xometry's extensive portfolio of 3D printing technologies and materials.Responsibilities: You will use your expertise to develop and implement the applicable sourcing strategyOnce an order is placed, you will be responsible for aiding production in troubleshooting order execution to ensure customer successTo do this, you must interface directly with 3D printing shops, internal staff members, and management, as well as customersAdditionally, you will take on special projects related to expanding the capabilities of our manufacturing partner network, working with OEM equipment makers, and our internal team of experts to improve our core competencies Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred5+ years in engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, preferably at a multi-technology 3D printing shopKnowledge will include optimum 3D printing technology and material selections, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs and geometry limitationsExperience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customersKnowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices of the USA is a plusExperience with 3D printing software is necessary (Materialise Magics, Rhino - Rhinoceros 3D)Experience with general 3D CAD modeling software is a plus (SolidWorks preferred)Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues based on 3D models and drawingsPrior experience in Design for manufacturing 3D Printed components is a plusInjection Molding experience is a plus Ability to work with customers on the fly and solve problems quicklyExceptional English communication skillsAble to work with Partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering partner questionsAble to work well in a fast-paced start-up environment Additional Experience: Familiarity with different types of post-processing and finishes for printed partsMaterial selection knowledge is a plus #LI-RemoteHere at Xometry we believe in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
