How you'll play your part We're looking for someone highly motivated and curious, who can apply their excellent knowledge of customs compliance and has an active interest in keeping up to date with international trade developments, supply chain innovations, and regulatory changes. Your key purpose in this role will be to manage UK Customs compliance processes and controls for the importation of vehicles and parts to the UK and supporting other UK group companies on customs matters.
In this role you will be responsible for managing the development and maintenance of UK Customs policies, procedures, and controls within the Mercedes Group Customs compliance framework. This includes validating and maintaining master data and tariff codes, managing post-import reviews, and optimising Customs processes with the Central Mercedes-Benz AG team. You will utilise your great communication skills as you'll oversee relationships with internal and external logistics providers to ensure smooth operational processes for the movement of goods into and out of the UK.
You'll possess strong analytical skills as you'll conduct regular risk analysis of declarations and sample checks will be performed to ensure compliance, with follow-up on any issues as required. You'll have proven ability to successfully deliver and implement multiple projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business-driven approach. Skilled in prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining clear communication with management to provide timely updates and ensuring project alignment.
You will go on to provide internal Customs consultancy services to the other UK group companies as you'll possess expertise in import clearance, tariff classification, customs valuation, and parts logistics, with strong knowledge in origin calculation and documentation for exports and imports.
You should be prepared to travel to various sites as needed, working closely with group companies, logistics suppliers, and customs brokers.
