The RoleCredit analysis of Financial Institutions (banks and/or insurance companies and/or financial guarantors (SGR)) - for both ratings and research. The Credit Analyst position will typically be assigned more complex and high-profile credits.
The Credit Analyst role has his/her own portfolio of issuers and has interactions with external markets, including issuers and investors. The role provides an opportunity for the candidate to make a significant contribution by providing an overall credit analysis.
The Credit Analyst role will focus on financial institutions (banks and/or insurance companies and/or financial guarantors (SGR)) and there is the potential for cross-training, in supporting varying portfolios and methodologies. The role provides a unique opportunity to develop strong analytical and professional skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct quantitative assessment of financial statements, economic and market data.Conduct initial and on-going credit analysis on a dedicated portfolio of companies.Actively monitor portfolio and make recommendations for rating transitions in a timely fashion.Perform holistic analysis of issuers and market and apply, with limited guidance.Formulate a cogent rating rationale and present this rationale in a persuasive fashion at rating committee while leading the committee discussion.Demonstrate rating judgment as evidenced by the ability to distinguish among different entities at different ratings levels.Produce timely and relevant research on specific issuers, general credit trends, or sector related issues that is in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused.Build and maintain high profile relationships with investors and issuers, interacting frequently based upon industry and topical research written.Lead issuer meetings, including presenting key rating factors effectively and asking probing questions that result in substantive dialog about key rating issues.Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings.Coach and develop junior analysts.Effectively and persuasively communicate credit knowledge and rating analysis rationale in both written and oral form.Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues.Perform certain routine administrative and other ad hoc credit-related tasks, as well as special projects as needed, under overall supervision of lead analysts.Requirements/QualificationsBachelor's degree required. Graduate/second level degree (Masters, MBA or CFA program) preferred.Minimum of four (4) years of relevant credit and financial analysis experience.Intermediate English speaking and writing capabilities.Proficient or advanced knowledge in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Intellectual curiosity, honesty, thoroughness, sound judgment and ability to work independently and in a team, ensuring a free exchange of perspectives in an inclusive, open-minded, and diverse environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent the Moody's brand credibly and effectively.Diligence, efficiency, responsibility, sense of ownership and ability to meet tight deadlines with high quality outcomes.
