The Business Control Management (BCM) team is responsible for building, developing and running the controls framework for the Markets businesses globally. They are key partners working with the functional teams to evolve and improve the control environment, to challenge existing practices, to identify and assess risk to the business, and to drive best in class practices.
The Business Control Management team interacts with multiple line and corporate functions and needs to be able to work effectively with senior executives of the firm. The individual will need to establish very strong relationships with their business and develop a deep understanding of the business, its control challenges, the architecture, and products.
In this role, the individual will interact directly with the Control Leads in the first and second line of defense, and will require coordination with multiple line functions, including:
Legal and ComplianceMarket RiskValuation ControlProduct and Financial ControlTrade SupportTechnology and OperationsIn partnership with your global colleagues, work on all items control related, including:
Governance ForumsOversight of Scorecards and metricsLiaise with Internal/External Auditors and RegulatorsPromote Control training, ensuring prioritization and completionParticipate in preparation and response to key regulatory inquiries and initiativesIn conjunction with your global colleagues, provide oversight to Markets projects, including:
Investigation of issues within the projectLiaising between groups involved, notably between Trading Desk, Technology, Finance, Risk, and OperationsContribute to projects related to merger/reorganizations, system migrations, new products, etc.Work with senior members of the involved teams, using influencing skills to achieve the objectives in an efficient mannerJob responsibilities:Assisting in the assessment of the end-to-end control environment and in the resolution of any control issues that surface, including providing a framework for developing "best practice" standardsSeek to mitigate operating risk across functions by proactively identifying and resolving operational risk exposuresFacilitate the execution of control programs such as Risk & Control Self Assessments, Risk Event Reporting, Executive Governance meetings and control forums, Front Office Supervision Dashboard, etc., working with the Business Control Manager and the associated line membersParticipate/Lead projects sponsored by Business Control Manager. Includes operating as the project manager on key control initiatives within the BCM space as well as acting as a consultant on control initiatives managed within central control functionsPartner with colleagues in the main locations to ensure consistency across the control landscapeEnsure timely communication and escalation to stakeholders and leadership; presentation of project objectives, progress and benefits to varied audiences including senior management and functional partnersQualifications:Managerial experience is mandatory (at least 7 years)Knowledge of Financial MarketsExcellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint skillsInvestigative mindset, able to see issues at both a high-level and in detailThorough understanding of end-to-end product life cycle and controlsIf you join the company, you will be part of a diverse and inclusive team that supports each other and will empower you to do your best work.
