JOB OVERVIEW Salary Range: $85-95K
Track Classic Center workshop productivity and monitor work activity, technician efficiency, and progress. Represent the initial point of contact for all technicians regarding work instructions, vehicle repair, and restoration project topics. Perform non-productive workshop operational tasks and provide hands-on technical support to the technician team.
RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor, review, and advise Workshop Manager on technician attendance and availability.Coach and mentor technicians, check the quality of their work, and help them resolve technical challenges.Provide hands-on technical support to the technician team, i.e., clock on repair orders and contribute to the performance of skilled vehicle repair or maintenance work on customer and fleet vehicles.Track overall productivity and relevant key performance indicators. Communicate discrepancies and report factors that affect productivity with Classic Center management.Manage and oversee the utilization of billable technician labor hours. Track non-productive time and communicate overages, including unauthorized usage of non-productive labor time to Classic Center management.Track and review technician time spent on individual repair tasks, comparing booked times against estimated (customer-approved) time. Review completed work tasks and discuss out-of-scope (overages) labor time with technician and/or Classic Center management.Review technician clock times (using the dealer management system [DMS]) to ensure proper booking of time. Perform ad-hoc clock time corrections on Repair Orders and report the same to Classic Center management.Perform miscellaneous non-productive labor tasks to reduce non-productive technician time, e.g., repair broken workshop equipment, and prepare vehicles for customer delivery, as needed.Analyze, review, and distribute general vehicle project information (e.g., repair order information, repair instructions, available repair step time, project deadline, scope of work, etc.) to the technician team.Conduct detailed, expert vehicle evaluations for vehicles entering the workshop. Generate customer-ready evaluation reports.Manage and maintain workshop supplies stock. Order supplies as needed.Identify and resolve equipment and tool issues. Report issues to Classic Center management.Represent Supervisor, Workshop Operations during absence, including the procurement of parts, physical organization of project elements, management of 3rd party sublet work, and final project quality control.Support Service Advisor's basic responsibilities in his/her absence, e.g., opening of a new Repair Order, entry of repair lines on a Repair Order, editing of technician repair stories, etc.QUALIFICATIONS Relevant work experience with trade school education in automotive repair and restoration.Minimum of 7-8 years of relevant experience.Proof of a minimum of 2-year experience in leading a technician team is strongly preferred.Must have experience with automotive dealership management systems and their functions (such as "CDK" or "Reynolds & Reynolds").Requires general knowledge of classic vehicle technical information systems and repair/diagnostic procedures.Candidate must be able to deliver a high level of workmanship with an eye for period-correct authenticity and original factory level quality.Comprehensive knowledge of Mercedes-Benz history, brand, and classic vehicles preferred.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.Additional Information Must be able to work flexible hours/work schedule.Requires valid driver's license.Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.Must be able to work weekends/holidays/overtime when required.Must be able to work on-site.EEO STATEMENT Mercedes-Benz USA is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that appreciates and leverages the diversity of our team.
