SUMMARY Monitors and operates the control console of either a mainframe digital computer or a group of minicomputers, in accordance with operating instructions, to process data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck, etc. Stacks materials for storage or binning, collects refuse and salvageable materials. Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations, levels the ground using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake. Shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; cuts tree and brush; operates power lawnmowers. Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office furniture, equipment, and appliances. Moves heavy pieces of automotive and other types of machinery and equipment. Occasionally performs routine work following specific procedures or detailed instructions working from various standardized source documents that have been coded and requires little or no selecting, coding, or interpreting of data. Studies operating instructions to determine equipment setup needed. Loads equipment with required items (tapes, cards, paper, etc.). Switches necessary auxiliary equipment into system. Diagnoses and corrects equipment malfunctions. Reviews error messages and makes corrections during operation or refers problems. Maintains operating record. Works under close supervision and is provided detailed written or oral guidance before and during assignments. Drive company owned commercial vehicles to various locations on the military base to perform duties. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of two (2) years' experience in data entry on Simulation & Training systems. Associates degree in an applied science. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Skilled in operating an alphanumeric keyboard. Understanding of transcribing procedures and relevant data entry equipment. Requires the application of experience and judgment in selecting procedures to be followed, and searching for interpreting, selecting, or coding items to be entered from a variety of document sources. Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be exceedingly well organized, flexible. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties under operating and deadline constraints. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality. WORK SCHEDULE Part-time, 24 - 30 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
TRAVEL The expected travel time is less than 25%.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is primarily performed in an office setting but may also be performed in a maintenance facility as well as outdoors in military training areas. Work is often performed outdoors, in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, high wind, rain, and various local conditions. Our mission is to train US Marines; therefore, we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Position consists of standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as lawn equipment, outdoor tools, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons.
