Job Overview: Support the communications strategy for the Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Charleston, South Carolina, assisting in the creation and management of messaging and multimedia content for both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of communications tactics in collaboration with the plant executive team and key stakeholder groups.Produce engaging and effective communications content, focusing on new media and digital platforms, while collaborating with interns and external vendors.Contribute to the company's cultural transformation by supporting local and global initiatives and campaigns.Help manage and monitor various communications channels, including the social intranet, digital signage, the company website, and social media platforms like LinkedIn.Support efforts to maintain a positive public image by coordinating with plant executives and corporate communicators on press releases, media events, and inquiries.Ensure compliance with Mercedes-Benz branding standards across all internal and external communications materials.Assist in organizing company-wide events and activities (e.g., Family Day) in partnership with external vendors and other Mercedes-Benz entities as needed.Participate in community engagement efforts through sponsorships, donations, and strategic partnerships.Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Public Relations, Communications or relevant field.0-3 years of experience in communications or relevant role.Familiarity with manufacturing environments and shop floor communication is a plus.Experience in copywriting and editing is preferred.Skills in video editing, web design, and content production are a plus.Advanced skills in Adobe InDesign and Creative Suite.Strong communication and presentation skills.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.Ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.We are all in for change. Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a Ladson, South Carolina based production entity that produces Sprinter as well as eSprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. Dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today, the MBV facility provides more than 1,700 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. Representing an additional nearly $60 million investment, MBV Charleston was selected to be the first plant in the Mercedes-Benz Vans global production network to produce the all-new eSprinter, which began production in January 2024. Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston also continues investing in the local community with over $1,900,000 dollars donated to local non-profits & schools via STEM programs since 2006 and over 900 volunteer hours.
Since 2006, more than 350,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. In 2021, the plant celebrated its 15-year legacy of SKD production in South Carolina. 2023 marked a plant milestone with a record-setting over 50,000 vans produced. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans after Germany.
