Summary: Collaborates with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary teams to develop an environment that facilitates the identification and accrual of patients to Roswell Park clinical research studies; serves as a point of contact between the Clinical Disease Team, clinical research participant, Clinical Research Services and ancillary support services from screening through the end of the patient's study participation; communicates the need for and coordinates patient care activities to ensure research requirements are being fulfilled for each participating patient; provides quality direct nursing care for patients enrolled on Roswell Park clinical research studies via assessment, planning, evaluation and intervention; assumes a number of different roles, including but not limited to: clinician, educator, resource, navigator, patient advocate and organization representative; provides education to nurses, patients, and others involved in the research process; interacts with other departments and organization staff to ensure a collaborative approach to meeting the research and clinical care requirements for all patients enrolled on Roswell Park clinical research studies; participates in professional activities related to clinical research to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments; promotes an environment that allows for continuous quality improvement.
Salary range for this position is $102,872-$121,57 which is inclusive of a base pay, geographic differential and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
Qualifications: Required Education and Experience License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Current certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other applicable certification. Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting including working with patients in clinical trials; or Associate's degree in Nursing, and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting including working with patients in clinical trials; or Associate's degree in Nursing, and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting including working with patients in clinical trials. NOTE:
As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the certification in Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other applicable certification within eighteen (18) months of their appointment to this title. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices. More than 2 years oncology, acute care and/or medical surgical experience, preferably in pediatrics.
