REPORTS TO: Program Director HOURS: FT 40 hour per week M-F

SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Classroom Behavioral Aid (CBA) provides support to the teacher and clinician in the designated CEP/ESN classroom. The CBA will assist with academic, behavioral, and emotional interventions with students with the Santa Rosa City School district. The position is accountable to School Based Program Director. The CBA is a core member of the team and is accountable to the team for planning, intervention, and evaluation strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Maintains an appropriate workplace environment that promotes the health and safety of staff and students.Follows classroom structure created by teacher, therapist, and other school personnel.Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning and social skills.Supports students in utilizing positive coping skills and helps with de-escalation and crisis management.Assists in the implementation of the IEPs for the student and helps monitor progress.Models conversation, manners, cleanup activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.Documents student's daily activities (e.g. behavior, assignment completion, etc.) as instructed.Assists classroom teachers with maintaining student records/files.Performs clerical duties as assigned that relate to specific student needs.Participates in the creation and implementation of a social/emotional/behavior plan.Implements the classroom behavior motivation/reinforcement system.Works with other professionals, such as speech therapist, social worker, etc.Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving safety concerns.Communicates with teachers and other district personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.Attends or provides information for IEPs.Assists in the development and implementation of curriculum per teacher instructions.Accurately documents all services provided, including billing.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:Experience in a classroom setting.Experience in behavioral management reinforcement.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Prior to beginning work, must be able to pass the background check DOJ.Current TB clearance (within one year).REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:2 or more years in a classroom setting serving and/or behavioral management in a structured setting.Previous experience working with school-age children. Examples: classrooms, summer camp, daycare, or babysitting.A genuine passion for working with children and helping them thrive in a nurturing environment.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent.Bilingual and bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use the computer keyboard and mouse, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
