As a Research & Development office abroad, we support all activities of Mercedes-Benz Group AG in the field of eMobility for the Japanese market.
Job Description: In order to drive forward the electrification of the Mercedes-Benz fleet, we are constantly growing and looking for new employees. In order to produce the most desirable cars, it is necessary to adapt the vehicles to the respective market. For this purpose, we are looking for a developer who will develop and test modern components for the Japanese market. The various tasks are distributed among the globally active teams. Collaboration between the teams is facilitated with modern tools.
The core of the responsibilities is the development and validation of charging components. There are many exciting challenges to handle, for example, organize and execute test drives, component validation, measurement campaigns on the vehicle and much more.
Main Tasks Definition and planning of charging component validation, DCDC Booster: Developing and specification of charging test cases for the DCDC Booster for vehicle and test bench with focus Japan. Review and improve in detail existing test specifications. Specification and documentation of the test cases in STARC. Monitoring testbench activity in cooperation with RD/ECL and MBRDI. Bi-weekly alignment with RD-India to ensure test case quality for automated test cases. Generate the release recommendation in time. Ensure that the test cases are usable in the next generations. Execute DCDC Booster validation: Definition of strategy and long-term planning for campaign in coordination with stakeholders. Preparation of the test vehicle. Equipment and vehicle status. Ensure that all needed vehicles and tools are up to date. Ensure synchronization between requirements and test event. Ensure result summary. Interoperability testing: Store and describe the collected data in a defined manner. Ensure compatibility with CHAdeMO 0.9 – 3.0. Documentation and reporting of the KPIs. Analysis, documentation, and evaluation of test campaigns: Plan and execute the Test in own responsibility. Define judgements and recommendations based on the results in time. Negotiate the results with stakeholders and experts. Ensure documentation and traceability of the test results. Prepare, present and discuss weekly status to RD/ECL. Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of detected issues: Analyzing the root cause of charging faults or misbehavior. Conduct fault elimination process for the failed test cases. Ensure documentation and traceability of the detected issue. Follow-up in STARC of ticket status and contribute to enable issue solving. *As a general rule, this is a local contract position.

Qualifications TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Academic degree in electrical engineering, automotive or equivalent education. English negotiation level (TOEIC 750 or above, CEFR C1 level) required. Japanese language skill desired. Japanese driver's license. Certificate and training of high-voltage handling is a plus. SOFT SKILLS/INDIVIDUAL COMPETENCE

Strong technical knowledge of electric powertrain technologies. Strong technical knowledge about high-voltage system, architecture and components in xEV. Awareness about high-voltage risks and safety. Knowledge about vehicle EE and diagnosis. Knowledge about charging systems and components. Practical work experience and skills of vehicle maintenance. EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years' experience as development engineer in driver assistance systems. 3-5 years of experience as project manager. 3-5 years of experience as technology analyst in Japan for technology monitoring, research cooperation with Japanese universities, and benchmarking Japanese industries in various technology fields. Solid experience (>3 years) in working in an intercultural environment. *We apologize that "Near-site Childcare" and "Parking" are not available.
