How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The purpose of this role is to ensure that all fixed asset activity is accounted for accurately and timely, including interaction with the Company's business units and Corporate Finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate communications and fixed asset requirements between the business units, Corporate Finance and Corporate IT. Timely and accurate processing of monthly fixed asset transactions including additions, retirements and transfers. Ensure all fixed asset interfaces and other areas are processed/prepared timely and accurately. Reconciliation of fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the business unit general ledgers. Monthly preparation of fixed asset roll-forward information and related reconciliations. Ensure consistent application of Airgas policies and procedures. Assist with report and system testing (ITC testing). Escalates non-routine issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager. Responsible for various accounting related efforts in support of the Airgas business units and SAP Accounting System. Identifies opportunities to enhance/streamline business processes. Interaction with external and internal auditors. Assist with executing special projects. Assist with development of reports and other information to support Airgas business units and Corporate Finance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyze balance sheet account balances and changes. Support departments, regions and Centralized Accounting Group (CAG). All other assignments and projects as requested by supervisors. Are you a MATCH? Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. 0-3 years of experience in an accounting role, with demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts. Proficiency with Excel required. Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team, and has a clear understanding of how assigned responsibilities impact other processes and the work of other people. Strong analytic, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to work under pressure and comply with deadlines. Strong work ethic and integrity that directs their work behavior and impacts their ability to provide high-quality work on a consistent basis. The ability to assume increasing responsibilities in a rapidly-changing environment; ability to work and navigate within a complex matrixed organization. Flexibility and willingness to learn and take on new functions and responsibilities over time. Ability to think critically, work independently, and problem-solve within delegated authority, yet not afraid to ask for assistance to ensure accuracy/minimize errors. Escalates issues and seeks advice when faced with complex issues/problems. Executes procedures to ensure accuracy of work product and adopts continuous improvement approach. Has a sufficient understanding of standard processes and procedures to enable application of existing practices and modifications when needed.
