Summary Description: The Business Development Manager role is a key part of the commercial team, leading sales and account development efforts for the Bay Area. The client-facing role is responsible for originating and nurturing relationships, delivering proposals, managing the contracting process, and ensuring a smooth transition into pre-construction. The BD Manager works closely with the Analyst team as a resource and interacts frequently with other Solar departments, including leadership, estimating, engineering and project management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Call and meet with existing and prospective clients in a designated region.Manage a pipeline of sales opportunities, track progress and achieve/exceed sales targets.Develop new construction and existing solar and energy storage projects by targeting Real Estate Developers, Architects, and General Contractors.Qualify opportunities using solution selling techniques and manage opportunities in the company's CRM system.Negotiate commercial terms including pricing and project scope with sophisticated counterparties.Attend industry events to source new leads, develop a professional network, and keep a pulse on industry trends.Guide clients through the entire sales process, start to finish. Sales introduction through final documentation.Requirements Key Qualifications & Required Skills/Abilities Experience in the commercial solar industry.Knowledge and understanding of grid-tied solar PV Systems and other renewable energy technologies.Experience selling renewable energy solutions into the real estate industry.CRM experience, Salesforce preferred.Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or commensurate work experience.Strong organizational skills, able to support multiple concurrent projects.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills/mindset.Excellent time management skills - ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and delegate when appropriate.Confident and capable of holding others accountable.Some travel is required within California.Benefits: Competitive base compensation plus bonusing which 75% is paid on contract signing and the remainder 25% when project commences.
