You play a key role in our mission to treat patients and fight cancer! The ProteusPlus installation project in Buenos Aires will be the 1st Proton Therapy Center in South America and will be performed in partnership with INVAP, on behalf of Comision Nacional de Energia Atomica (CNEA) and the National Oncology Institute Angel H. Roffo. The Proton Therapy Center will be part of the Instituto de Oncología "Ángel H. Roffo" complex located in the Villa Del Parque area. It will be equipped with the latest ProteusPlus system with two treatment rooms and one research area. Its installation will start in 2024 and should be delivered within 18 months after which the site transitions to customer service mode.
As Beam Physics Service Engineer, you are responsible for beam calibration, commissioning and troubleshooting activities on the Proton Therapy site.
Challenges we trust you withDuring the Installation phase:
Participating in the installation of a broad range of IBA equipment and technical tools on the Proton Therapy site with a specific focus on beam-related equipmentPerforming the beam-related equipment calibration following proceduresOperating the system (understanding the software/hardware architecture of the system and the PT center components) in order to obtain a beam that matches the requirementsSetting and aligning Dosimetry toolsCritically analyzing a large amount of data to diagnose potential technical issuesTesting and validating the equipment according to the specifications and ensuring the customer requirements are met in terms of compliance, quality, technical performance and timingManaging all aspects of beam-related commissioning activities: Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) etc.Troubleshooting the equipmentEnsuring the highest quality of state-of-the-art technologies and servicesDuring the Customer Service phase:
Maintaining and troubleshooting the equipmentOperating the system and providing technical support to the medical staff during QA, patient treatment and clinical operationsEnsuring the client requirements are met in terms of technical performance, timing and safetyTraining customers and working in close collaboration with them on the equipment maintenance and operations (shared services)Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on hardware and software equipment (shift work)Upgrading and improving the system in collaboration with the R&D departmentWhat we valueYou have: A Master's degree or PhD in Physics or engineeringExperience in High Energy Physics, Particle Accelerators or Medical Physics is a strong assetGood knowledge of MS Excel, MATLAB and Monte-Carlo SimulationsThe ability to troubleshoot large system issuesStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and SpanishAnd you also are:Customer-orientedAble to follow rules & regulations and deliver on strict deadlinesAnalytical, with good troubleshooting skills, able to identify root causes of issuesWilling to share your knowledge in your area of expertiseA team player with strong interpersonal skillsA flexible person, willing to work in rotating shifts, night work and weekends (up to 50% of your time)Willing to travel extensively during the training period (+/- 4 months)Life at IBADiversity is fundamental to our culture.
