Back end Developer SR (Java, Python, Scala) - RemoteOur client is a group of thinkers, designers, and builders who make software products to power the Communications, Media, and Education Technology industries.
You will: Own development, testing, and operations of multiple features or moderately sized sub-systems and services.Have strong experience working in Agile environments, including substantial experience working with large distributed teams in Scrum or Kanban environments.Achieve a strong understanding of the business rationale and client needs being addressed in the project; collaborate with Product Managers to build the right product that clients need.Document and demonstrate solutions by developing technical knowledge base articles, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, test plans, and well-written code following enterprise/industry standards.Improve operations by conducting service coverage analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.Contribute to the software design process by understanding, analyzing, and troubleshooting requirements for your own work.Mentor and onboard junior software engineers in code quality, CI/CD practices, and DevOps best practices with a clear understanding of security and data governance principles.Provide on-call support and triage production issues, owning the post-release monitoring and maintenance.Have substantial experience in building CI/CD-certified assets, including coverage of all aspects of the SDLC.Actively contribute to team development discussions by describing, discussing, and explaining technical issues and possible solutions clearly to other engineers.Make an impact by contributing to, and beginning to guide, several local and cross-team initiatives.Experience in deploying secure and scalable on-premise and cloud-based solutions is a huge plus!Master professional software engineering practices for the full development life cycle; possess intimate knowledge of best practices in application design, development, testing, and operations.Have knowledge of concepts and practices in enterprise architecture, focusing on microservice design, implementation, and testing.You have: 3+ years of experience in Python, Java, or Scala.3+ years of experience in JVM-based languages (Java, Scala).3+ years of experience interacting with standard databases like MySQL and Postgres.Solid understanding of storing distributed data with a strong understanding of consistency trade-offs, isolation levels, availability, and resiliency.Thorough understanding of how to use different database technologies, including relational and non-relational data modeling (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB, ScyllaDB, Aerospike, Snowflake), as well as distributed query engines (Presto, Impala, Spark).Experience using at least one or more caching or in-memory stores (e.g., Redis, MemSQL, RocksDB).
