Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a private firm specializing in complex matters involving Business Litigation, Commercial Litigation, and Real Estate litigation. We are seeking a Mid to Senior Level Business Associate to work out of Torrance, California.
Part of what makes us different from other local law firms is that our attorneys handle both transactional and litigation matters. The primary areas of our practice are real estate law, partnership law, shareholder disputes, business and commercial law, construction litigation, and related disputes.
Importantly, we are not a high-volume insurance defense firm, and we do not do cookie-cutter work. We predominantly handle complex matters for individuals and small and medium-sized businesses, with litigation being the bulk of the practice and transactional work predominantly, but not exclusively, arising from the resolution of matters being litigated.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:Extensive experience in both prosecuting and defending cases involving Business, Real Estate, Commercial, and Construction disputes.An individual who thrives on tackling complex, diverse cases, each presenting unique challenges, and who possesses the ability to conceptualize and approach matters with strategic insight.Preferred background in business formation, start-ups, and construction litigation (e.g., breach of contract, defects, delay claims, payment disputes).Experience in business/commercial litigation (contract negotiations, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, employment law) and Real Estate Litigation (landowner liability, quiet title, wrongful foreclosure, easement/boundary disputes, landlord-tenant litigation, and brokerage claims).DUTIES:Engage directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.Conduct and defend depositions, participate in mediations and arbitrations.Handle all aspects of written discovery, including propounding and responding.Perform legal research, draft motions, and prepare comprehensive case strategies for trial.REQUIREMENTS:Member of California Bar and in good standing.Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.4+ years of experience practicing as an attorney in California Civil Litigation.Interacting with clients and managing client expectations, working well under pressure.Strong capacity to conceptualize and apply legal theories and strategies.Possess a strong work ethic.Willing to work long hours particularly when preparing for trial and while on trial.Ability to multi-task and work as a team member in a collaborative office environment.Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:Medical Profit Sharing PlanPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysBase Compensation: $140,000 - $215,000Plus performance commission/bonusesLOCATION:Torrance, California (90503)Highrise overlooking the oceanOpen to hybrid based on candidate experience levelADDITIONAL FIRM INSIGHT:We are a very collaborative firm.The ideal candidate should be interested in developing a compatible practice, potentially leading to a partnership in our firm.If you're seeking new challenges, tired of handling repetitive cases, and have a solid foundation in California litigation, you'll find our diverse practice both engaging and rewarding.Please note that we at Career Consulting Partners will be sure to keep your information private.
