We are looking for Specialists and Team Members to join us in crafting a wide variety of vehicles from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV to our all-electric electric vehicle, the EQS SUV and EQE SUV.
Our Tuscaloosa County site is home to the production of Mercedes' luxury SUV models, including electric vehicles. Just down the road in Bibb County, MBUSI has launched the production of high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Our two campuses are among the most advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in the world, with over 6 million square feet combined.

Purpose of the Position: The Financial and Tax Accounting Specialist is responsible for various aspects of our financial accounting and tax processes including ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Essential Functions: Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.Responsible for monthly/quarterly/semi-annual reporting, according to IFRS, using company's web-based reporting software.Prepare reconciliations including follow-up of open items and clearing of open line items.Process payroll interface including accrual determination, accrual reversal, and clearing of errors.Complete ICS (Internal Control System) self-assessment, roll-forward, and period-end controls for respective areas.Support various aspects of our accounting and reporting process.Complete annual VAT (value added tax) claims processing.Analyze vendor records for determination of 1099 filing requirements (coordinate with Accounts Payable group).Prepare and maintain tax records used in return preparation.Complete tax returns for Tuscaloosa county and Bibb county property tax (and other counties as required) along with property tax returns for jurisdictions of company-owned supplier tooling. Ensure compliance with tax laws and avoidance of any penalties.Complete tax returns for State and local sales/use tax returns. Ensure compliance with tax laws and avoidance of any penalties.Research and respond to tax notices.Prepare and support training on departmental policy and procedures within and outside of the department including accounting and tax guidance.Gather data and forms for tax filings, ensuring deadlines are met.Assist in the preparation of the financial budget for various tax accounts. Compile necessary data for use in the calculation of estimates.Serve as back-up/support to other Financial Accounting Specialist positions.Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications: Education: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): general ledger accounting, financial accounting, financial reporting, or tax accounting.
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Ability to comprehend and comply with division policies, procedures, and operations in conducting day-to-day responsibilities.
