Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. (MBRDNA) is seeking a Sr Manager – US Experience Programs to join the US Experience team. This is a full-time, exempt position at the MBRDNA regional office in Long Beach, CA.
The US Experience team drives to establish Mercedes-Benz as a technology leader in the US luxury segment by translating the combined One Voice US strategy to customers in impactful propositions that enhance the customer experience and create market pull. Our goal is to deliver innovative and luxury experiences to customers in the US through research, benchmarking, testing, validation, and back-end operations.
The Sr Manager – US Experience will manage critical programs from concept to execution through collaboration with MBUSA, MBUSI as well as RD and PS in Germany and China. The programs will affect different technology touchpoints in the areas of Infotainment, advanced-driver assistance (ADAS), Charging and Mercedes Me app development. All critical programs should influence how the customers experience Mercedes-Benz technology in the US. In addition, as a manager on the US Experience team, the Sr Manager – US Experience Programs will supervise the program management office.
Job Responsibilities:Define programs that will support Mercedes-Benz' goal to "lead in software and electric" for customers in the US.Consolidate the US roadmap based on addressing market requirements and customer pain points.Drive early technology discussion with German counterparts in the business units to ensure US requirements are reflected in business unit roadmaps.Connect market insights with regulatory and technical requirements and relevant data.Formulate and drive strategic projects from concept to execution.Prepare business cases based on multiple scenarios underpinning assumptions with investments and payback. Clearly demonstrate benefits and trade-offs of proposals.Propose and maintain the structure of the program office for the US Experience team including program classification and prioritization.Define program governance and reporting including project charter, risk matrix, communication, budgeting, dashboards, and program reviews.Coordinate technical working groups across different locations and units in the US to align priorities and coordinate efforts.Generate regular project reports and present status to C-level executives.Assess priorities to balance available resources against timelines, milestones, and stakeholder expectations.Track employee performance and develop a proposal for the personal development and bi-annual review of each team member which ensures the enhancement of personal/career goals development of team members (LEAD process) as well as following company policies, guidelines, and "best practices".Minimum Qualifications:Engineering or technical degree with hands-on experience in automotive and software development.12+ years of relevant work experienceAt least 7 years of work experience in program management with budget responsibilities, innovative technology field, R&D, or related technical development teams.Understand the automotive development waterfall process for hardware and software development. Ability to develop project timelines that can drive projects through both paths.Experience managing projects from idea inception to launch, including high-level tracking through requirement setting, specification, design, development, test, and acceptance.Ability to pull together cross-functional teams of legal, product compliance, safety, regulatory affairs, and all other interdependencies to achieve the project goals.Ability to influence and lead large transformational programs, across a highly complex, global matrix organization.Strong people management and leadership skills with a proven track record of supporting and developing employee performance, driving ownership and accountability.Strong Data Management skills, understanding of process, clearly communicate milestones and deliverables to keep the program on track.Distill big picture into small tangible steps, focusing on control points that will lead to successful execution. Identify risks and course-correct discrepancies.Proven strategic thinking. Analytical skills to support scenario analysis, business cases formulation, and long-term planning.Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and understand technical subjects and emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace.Ability to identify and manage risk.Understanding of Operational Excellence with Lean or Agile experience.Willingness to travel when required.Open-minded, team player with a sense of humor.Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations. Frequent sitting, standing, and reaching with hands.Preferred Qualifications:MBA preferred.PMP highly preferred or equivalent experience in program management.Experience with MDS and network within the RD in Germany.Strategy formulation, development, and implementation.Ability to lead and motivate a high-performance team.Understands and lives a "customer first" mentality with empathy, pragmatism, and a hands-on approach.German language skills.Champion for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.Experience with development and lifecycle of connected consumer devices.Change management and Influencing skills.Internal candidates must be PV44 confirmed.The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $179,000 - $228,200.
