POSITION TITLE: Senior Director, Finance
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the CEO
JOB SUMMARY: The South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation seeks a proactive, organized, detail-oriented, highly collaborative and adaptable team player. The Senior Director, Finance position will report directly to the CEO and is responsible for establishing a variety of back-office systems development and implementation projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for fiscal management, including development and oversight of budgets, reporting and monitoring transactions and procurement.Work with senior management to lead the development of the Foundation's annual budget and make revisions as needed.Lead and/or assist in budget development and reporting for grants and grantees/partners in coordination with the Development Team.Partner with corresponding team members to ensure grant compliance and partner accountability and contract compliance.Responsible for all finance and accounting ensuring the Foundation meets state and federal accounting laws and standards.Support CEO, Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team by providing financial reports and projections.Actively manage all daily accounting and financial operations.Review and sign off on all reconciliations including bank, benefit, payroll and miscellaneous accounts.Prepare accurate internal and external financial statements in a timely manner.Manage all billing, invoicing, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.Manage expense and reimbursement policies and procedures ensuring timely processing and payment.Work with the Foundation's insurance brokers to update insurance and employee benefits annually.Manage external banking relationships.Ensure proper accounting for all grants awarded programs.Monitor and maintain appropriate internal controls.Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.Oversee the annual audit and preparation of the 990 annual tax return.Act as the audit liaison, coordinating activities with its independent Auditor.REQUIREMENTS: Five to seven years of director level financial management experience in an organization with operations in excess of $3 million per year.Proficiency in accounting, finance and tax principles and systems.Experience with accounting and managing State and/or Federal grants.Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Highly developed leadership skills.Ability to collaborate with colleagues across multiple areas.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or related field and five to seven years of experience.Minimum of 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience.Position is full-time, exempt, working Monday through Friday.
