Responsibilities As the Principal Product Designer for our best-in-class Mobile POS, your primary focus will be on creating an exceptional experience for restaurant servers and waitstaff. Reporting directly to the VP of Product Design, you will lead the end-to-end design strategy aimed at empowering servers to efficiently manage orders, payments, and customer interactions. Your design will ensure that our Mobile POS product becomes an indispensable tool in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

This role is based onsite / hybrid at any of the following Shift4 locations: Tampa, FL / Center Valley, PA / Morrisville, NC / Las Vegas, NV. Remote work may be available in certain situations. Role Spearhead the design of an intuitive mobile POS interface tailored specifically to the needs of restaurant servers and waitstaff, focusing on simplifying key tasks such as order management, payment processing, and customer service.Embed deep empathy for restaurant staff into the design process, using the Jobs-to-Be-Done (JTBD) framework to ensure the product meets their core needs—speed, reliability, ease of use—while reducing errors and boosting efficiency during peak service times.Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate user insights and business goals into best-in-class design solutions that increase usability, reduce friction, and improve overall restaurant operations.Oversee the complete user journey for servers, from clock-in to clock-out, ensuring that the design simplifies everything from opening tasks to closing out the day, while enhancing the dining experience for customers.Identify opportunities to innovate, such as improving workflows, optimizing multi-tasking, and enabling seamless order and payment handling in a high-pressure environment.
