With a firm eye on the future, we have built our new Test and Technology Center (PTZ) in Immendingen, Baden-Württemberg. Completed in 2018, we are concentrating on the development and testing of alternative drive systems, new safety technologies and assistance systems as well as automated driving, always in cooperation with partner departments in Sindelfingen and Stuttgart as well as other locations worldwide. Our "Testing & Prototype Vehicles AD" department is responsible for the testing and validation as well as the construction and operation of test vehicles for automated driving functions and active safety functions. Current projects include updating current and testing future generations of assistance systems, e.g. the further rollout of world firsts such as the DRIVE PILOT in Germany and abroad.
The "Field Validation, Test Technology and Communication Automated Driving" team within this department is responsible, among other things, for the development, provision and operation of test technologies as part of the development of new driver assistance systems across all model series and automation levels. This includes proving the effectiveness, controllability and acceptance of the systems. To this end, expert and test person trials are carried out, in particular on the test site or in field trials. The team is also responsible for the technical communication of active safety, driver assistance and automated driving systems.
