Position Overview Autodesk's Media and Entertainment Industry Futures research group explores forward looking prototypes to help understand and develop technology that will shape the future of movies, games, and other media. Within this role you will specialize in creating virtual environments and leveraging them to explore AI powered workflows, simulations, and playable experiences. You will investigate emerging AI technologies and explore the viability of their less-obvious use cases in various forms of media creation. You will also contribute to research engineering efforts in adjacent areas, such as contributing to the data pipelines in and out of your research tools and supporting team members on real time aspects of their projects. Meanwhile a mentor will help to guide you as you apply and improve a variety of skills, while maximizing your research impact.
Responsibilities Rapidly prototype virtual environments / games / simulationsDevelop, refine, and explore the behavior of AI-powered agents within those environmentsFind and evaluate novel applications of emerging AI technologies to empower and improve existing software, techniques, or workflowsSupport research efforts by developing software prototypes, pipelines, interfaces, and algorithmsWork effectively as a member of a team, with minimum supervisionFind effective compromises when receiving complex requirements from multiple sourcesProduce clear, concise, correct technical material and documentationMinimum Qualifications Working towards a degree in computer science or related fieldDemonstratable experience developing with a real time engine (e.g. Unreal Engine / Unity / Godot / etc.) *Demonstratable experience working on an AI based solution*Robust understanding of fundamental machine learning conceptsAdaptability to rapidly learn and employ new tools & platformsExperience could be demonstrated with evidence of work experience, university work or personal projectsPreferred Qualifications It is not expected that the candidate has all these skills, but experience in some of these areas would be highly beneficial and could help to shape the path of the research:
Experience developing for VR, AR, XR, & mobileExperience with pythonExperience developing (or developing with) Machine Learning modelsExperience in other programming languagesExperience with web development and frameworksAbout the US Intern Program The 2025 U.S. program runs for 12 weeks (May 19 – August 8 or June 16 – September 5). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. Salary Transparency Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate's experience, educational level, and geographic location, and can exceed this range.
For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting annualized intern base salary to be between:
