FACILITIES ASSISTANT MANAGER Regional Applications with resumes and cover letters will be accepted through Tuesday, August 27, 2024, for the position of Facilities Assistant Manager. This full-time position is in compensation Pay Range E that pays from $45,809 to $64,157 annually, plus fringe benefits. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Agency of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, and Ottawa Counties. West Michigan Works! mission is to lead workforce development strategy and resource alignment in West Michigan by understanding the talent needs of employers and employment needs of job seekers and connecting them to solutions.
JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Department Assistant Manager, under the supervision of the Facilities Department Manager and in coordination with other departments, directors and Chief Operating Officer, provides Facility Department services, support, information, and training to the ACSET/West Michigan Works! Team. Knowledge, education and experience in providing facility services is an essential prerequisite for the position, as well as an understanding of workforce development programs and the importance of providing an inviting and safe environment for the delivery of excellent customer service to job seekers, employers and visitors to ACSET/West Michigan Works! Service Centers. Responsibilities are carried out according to established procedures with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and report staff performance and effectiveness to the Facilities manager.Plan, implement and maintain Facility Department programs, including but not restricted to the following:Department procurement and fiscal managementFleet Vehicle management SystemWork Ticketing System ManagementAccess Card system management and monitoringSecurity Camera System management and monitoringJanitorial and Pest Control Services ManagementSecurity, emergency preparedness policies and proceduresOSHA & MIOSHA compliance management and Safety Data Sheet managementADA compliance managementProvide training, support and clarification of Michigan Works! Facility and Vehicle regulations, policies and required file documentation to department staff members and West Michigan Works! Team members.Coordinate with and support agency management and the Talent Solutions, Business Solutions, or Talent Development teams as needed.Proficient and demonstrated understanding of all Michigan Works! program requirements.Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's and federal/state/agency facility compliance policies and applicable laws.Establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with other ACSET Staff.Attend professional development activities, trainings, and seminars.In the absence of the Facilities Manager, provide oversight of Regional Facility staff and operations.Actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge typically acquired through an Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management or related field and two or more years training and experience in building management and purchasing, or an equivalent combination of training and experience operating and maintaining facilities.Basic Building maintenance Certificate (or verified experience) and OSHA 20 Hour Certificate preferred.Knowledge of Facilities Management Systems, HVAC and plumbing systems with ability to troubleshoot and repair preferred.Ability to lift/move furniture and other items up to 50lbs or more using dollies and other lifting equipment.Experience using common hand and power tools for maintenance and repair work.Computer skills necessary to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms with coworkers, managers, and outside parties.Ability to read, understand, and monitor expenditures for assigned projects and tasks.Ability to apply analytical skills in identifying operational problems and offer potential solutions.Interpersonal skills necessary to assist with managing the activities of a diverse group of employees and to work productively with all levels of organizational personnel.Work history with demonstrated success in taking initiative, follow through, professionalism, problem solving and teamwork.Ability to diffuse and assist with sensitive staff and customer matters.Strong leadership skills and experience in management, supervision and program development.Commitment to provide patient, friendly, participant-centered and timely services.Communication and organizational skills that contribute to a quality work environment and the ability to work as a team.Ability to handle pressures related to meeting deadlines and to frequently work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail.Knowledge and experience of proper phone etiquette.Ability to speak a language other than English is desirable.Physical ability to sit in one position for extended periods of time.Knowledge of relevant human service and facilities management programs and policies, resources and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.Work that includes outside working conditions with occasional exposure to extreme hot or cold weather.Local or statewide travel via agency or personal vehicle may be required.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a person assigned to this job.
